This is the unique original Gouache painting by Ron Embleton.

Alexander Selkirk, the unfortunate man who inspired Daniel Defoe's novel The Life and Strange Surprising Adventures of Robinson Crusoe, is marooned on a remote island. Selkirk was First Mate to the Privateer William Dampier.

Selkirk asked to be left on Mas a Tierra - an island in the Juan Fernandez chain four hundred miles from the coast of Chile - after many arguments about the condition of the crew and the ship and the possibility of mutiny. It was four years before he was discovered. Professionally matted ready for framing.
