An atmospheric original pen and ink sketch from Watson's own personal portfolio of artwork. The Hosanna Man is a novel by Philip Callow originally published by Jonathan Cape in 1956. It is mostly set in Nottingham in the 1950s.

Charles Clixby Watson was born in London, where he studied art at St Martin's School of Art and Goldsmith's. He then worked abroad before returning to the UK to paint English landscapes.

A popular artist, he worked regularly for the BBC Radio Times and Good Housekeeping and is known for his many advertising posters as well as covers for John Bull magazine.
