Word spreads that the South Sea Bubble had burst. Shares in the company overnight became worthless. An episode during the reign of the unpopular King George I.

The incident, caused by foolish speculation in things as dubious as Irish Bogs and a cannon that fired square cannonballs, happened in 1720. Many people lost their fortune, their reputation or even their lives.
