The Glory that was Rome. Towards the end of the victory procession, on foot and dressed in black, came Perseus, the defeated king. As he dragged his weary footsteps up to the Temple of Jove on the Capitoline Hill, a great roar of triumph swelled in thousands of Roman throats. This took place during the period of the Punic Wars in the Second Century B.C.

Original artwork for the illustration on p2 of Look and Learn issue no. 619 (24 November 1973).
